چکیده

The task of producing steady, stable and energy efficient locomotion in legged robots with the ability to walk in unknown terrain have for many years been a big challenge in robotics. This work is focusing on how different robots build from the modular robotic system, LocoKit by Larsen et. la [3], performs compared to animals, and also on the similarities between robots an animals. This work shows, that there in robots exist the same connection between cost of transport and the weight of the robots as is true for animals.

Multiple-objective Optimization of Serpentine Locomotion with Snake Robot by Using the NSGA

This paper starts with developing kinematic and dynamic model of a snake shape robot in serpentine locomotion and finishes with actual experimentation. At the beginning the symmetrical and unsymmetrical serpenoid curves are introduced. Kinematics and dynamics of a snake robot on flat and inclined surfaces are obtained for a general n-link robot. SimMechanics toolbox of MATLAB software is employ...

Simulation and optimization of live fish locomotion in a biomimetic robot fish

This paper presents simplified hydrodynamics model for a biomimetic robot fish based on quantitative morphological and kinematic parameters of crangiform fish. The motion of four Pangasius sanitwongsei with different length and swimming speed were recorded by the digital particle image velocimetry (DPIV) and image processing methods and optimal coefficients of the motion equations and appropria...

One-Legged Locomotion with a Compliant Passive Joint

Abstract. There is an increasing attention of exploiting compliant materials for the purpose of legged locomotion, because they provide significant advantages in locomotion performance with respect to energy efficiency and stability. Toward establishing a fundamental basis for this line of research, a minimalistic locomotion model of a single legged system is explored in this paper. By analyzin...

Survey of Semi-Passive Locomotion Methodologies for Humanoid Robots

Wheel-based locomotion is the most commonly used by mobile robots, due to its simplicity and robustness. However, when facing uneven terrain, such as steps or rocky terrain, its mobility is greatly reduced. Biped robots, in contrast, have a greater adaptation potential to these challenges due to the suitability of its structure. In spite of this, the traditional biped locomotion methods used by...

Performance measures for locomotion robots

We design two performance measures for a planar locomotion robot, modeled closely after the Platonic Beast. The first measure is proportional to the total motion of all joints during locomotion of the robot. This is a rough approximation to the energy consumption of the robot. The second measure determines the maximal speed of locomotion, for given limits on the joint speeds. We compute optimal...
